Most assignments are graded, particularly in science and English. Students are responsible for keeping up with assignments when
they are absent.
There is a spelling/vocabulary tests every Friday. Dates of tests in other subjects are posted one week in advance. Parents -
tests and quizzes are sent home on Thursdays for your review. Please sign the cover sheet; individual papers do not need to be
signed, but they should be returned. Grades are posted in RVS once a week - usually Wednesday or Thursday.
Extra credit is offered to students in the 7th and 8th grade science classes. Each student may do a total of 9 extra credit papers per trimester which could possibly add 3 points to his/her trimester grade. Extra credit papers are available in the classroom. Students must read the information on the paper and answer the corresponding questions on a separate sheet of paper. Another option for extra credit is to read one of the designated articles in the Current Science Magazine and then summarize it.
Treat all with respect.
For those of you who are early planners, graduation is slated for Wednesday, June 16, 2010.
My goal, as the 8th grade teacher, is to prepare your child for high school. To achieve this, I hold him/her responsible for
him/herself - the successes and the failures. We all learn from our mistakes as well as from things we do well; however, I want
students to accept any consequences of their mistakes without placing blame on someone else.
